The sport bible has named Barcelona the best of the best in terms of economic growth, tourism, sporting events and economic development.

In terms of tourism, the Catalan capital has emerged as a hotspot for international and domestic visitors, with the Barcelona International Airport the world’s second busiest in terms for the fifth straight year.

The Catalan capital is also a major destination for international sports fans, with more than 3 million people visiting the stadium annually.

Barcelona’s economic impact is recognised by the European Commission, which estimates that it generated a value of €2.7 billion ($2.8 billion) for the Catalan economy in 2016.

Barça has been rated the second best city in Europe for economic growth in a recent study by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
