Report: Arkansas football players under investigation for alleged fraternity attack

At least one Arkansas player could be in hot water after an alleged weekend incident at a fraternity.

Members of the Razorbacks football team are believed to have been in attendance at an “event” that has drawn the attention of the university’s athletic department, police department and Office of Student Standards and Conduct.

Sources tell KATV, a television station in Little Rock, Ark., that the incident in question occurred at the university’s Kappa Alpha fraternity house over the weekend. That source revealed to the station that at least one Arkansas football player allegedly “attacked” a student, and that a larger fight broke out with as many as six Arkansas students injured as a result. It is alleged that at least one of these students was hospitalized as a result of the events.

Arkansas released the following statement on Tuesday regarding the matter:

The University of Arkansas Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has been made aware of an incident occurring this past weekend at an event. The event was attended by University of Arkansas students, including members of the football team. The incident is currently being reviewed by UAPD and the Office of Student Standards and Conduct. The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will have no further comment until the completion of the review.

The players allegedly involved have not yet been named, and there has not been a reported arrest to stem from the situation.

New Arkansas coach Chad Morris may face his first major disciplinary issue with the Razorbacks football program pending the outcome of the review of this incident. The Hogs recently concluded their first spring practice under the SMU head coach, which culminated in a spring football game that was held off campus at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
